Hi Guys,
Hope you had a great Christmas and a very happy new year.
How are you going with those new year’s resolutions? Mine was to blog more often about my music.
The first album review of 2008 will be on the Young Divas new album, New Attitude.
The young divas are an Australian cover band (still, no new material) who were made out of Australian Idol finalists.
Their sophomore album is titled “New Attitude” after the Patti LaBelle track (which is included on the album)
This album is a fun-filled, dance friendly, party starter album. Right from the start the girls hit you with a highlight of the album “Got To Be Real”. This song is absolutely amazing. It is a great starter for the album and is a massive candidate for the next single off of New Attitude.I Love the subtle key change at the end of the song.
Next up, ” If I Can’t Have You”. Another great track and has the great electro-drum effect that works so well in Turn Me Loose. Not the best song on the album, but nowhere near the worst.
Then comes “Turn Me Loose”. I love this track, the only downer is the rapper at the end of the song. It seems like these girls are trying to gain some street cred. Girls, If you sing “I’m so excited”, don’t you think that has shattered any chance of street cred you could have. Anyway, Love this track.
New Attitude, this track is very 80’s revival. It seems a little out of place throughout some of the verses but the amazing choruses save this song from being really bad. At this stage the album is starting to become much more mature then their debut.
Jump!. Oh My God, I love this song. This is fabulous. I can’t express how much I love this song. Another Highlight.
Love will lead you back is the next song on this album (I think it is the next single). This song is very good but it seems really out of place in this album.
Chain Reaction, LOL. This song is so gay it is unbelievable. That is what makes this song another highlight of this album. Soak it up. It is rare that something this gay actually gets released so love it while you can.
I Can’t Wait, I really love the backing track on this album. I am impartial to this song. I don’t love it, nor do I hate it.
I’m so excited. I actually don’t like the starting of this song and they have kind of wrecked it. Definately a lowlight.
Tell It To My Heart, another shot at a highlight. They almost get there, with more vocals like the begininning this track would be the best of the album
Dear Santa. This song is horrible. It is too “dark” music, the vocal’s are strange. This is painful to listen to. The lowest this album gets.
The Itunes bonus track “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” is amazing. Definately buy this one. It is magical.
All in all, this album is actually quite good.
Highlights: Got To Be Real, Turn Me Loose, Jump, Chain Reaction (They should be the singles) and I wanna dance with somebody (Itunes Bonus)
Lowlights: Dear Santa, Love Will Lead You Back and I Can’t Wait (That says a lot because these tracks are really quite good)
